A modern, architecturally designed, two bedroom semi self contained cottage set in peaceful, natural surroundings.

Take a walk around our eight hectare private wetland which is a protected area for wildlife. With assistance from the community we are replanting the area to restore back to how it might have been 100 years ago.

Enjoy a guided walk around our lifestyle farm. We have farm animals such as alpaca, sheep, a pig, chickens and Bonnie our happy sheep dog who is always eager for a walk.

We have designed the retreat accommodation with authentic New Zealand touches such as 'manuka' handrails echoing the early musterers’ huts, a stag-horn coat rack, and wooden antique doors on rollers, salvaged from a local woolshed.

The is a sliding door which lead into a private deck, a perfect place for breakfast or a glass of wine at the end of the day.

My favourite accommodation during a 4 week trip around the South Island. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and are rightly proud of the beautiful location they have and large area of wetland habitat guests can explore. The lodge itself was absolutely stunning inside. Decorated to a very high standard and very comfy. Loved the tinted big windows especially waking up to see a nosy cow peering in. The owners go out of their way to make it a memorable stay with welcoming cakes and lots of books, games and information on the local environment and habitats in the lodge. Having had a hectic 2 weeks preceding our stay this was an ideal place to chill, unwind, enjoy some tasty local wines on the veranda and explore the adjoining wetland habitat and it’s flora and fauna. Very relaxing! We didn’t have time to do one of their eco tours (wish we had longer) but suspect they would be great fun and very informative. Even months on I still dream of coming back to stay here and couldn’t recommend highly enough. Thank you Will and Rose Peter Martin.
