Nature & Heritage Tour to the Wairau Lagoon
A scenic tour by van to the Wairau Lagoon, Marlborough. Sit back and let your guide uncover for you the natural and historical treasures of this beautiful area.
This is the first known point of human occupation in New Zealand by the Polynesian people. Hear the stories of the resourceful early indigenous settlers and the later arrival of Europeans such as the whalers.
Your personal guide will take you via private access through the Vernon Farm Station, one of Marlborough’s earliest sheep and cattle farms, to the shores of the Wairau Lagoon and Te Koko-o-Kupe, Cloudy Bay.
Take photos from Jamie's Knob with magnificent views of the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, Mount Tapuae-o-Uenuku and across the Cook Strait to the North Island. (Weather permitting).
Enjoy a home baked muffin and a hot drink before you explore the beach beneath Te Parinui o Whiti (the towering White Bluffs). You will have a wild beach all to yourself, study shells, sponges and driftwood. Take time out to relax and reconnect with nature on this scenic tour in Marlborough. This is a place with a special energy.

Times are an example only:
10.00am Pick up and safety and environmental briefing before departing on your scenic tour.
10.30am Drive to the Vernon Station past one of the oldest homesteads in Marlborough.
10.45am Weather permitting drive to the look out point of Jamie's knob taking in views of the Wairau, Awatere and Cloudy Bay to the North Island. Your guide will point our the landmarks.
11.00am Drive to the foot of the White Bluff for morning tea of homemade muffin and tea or coffee. Hear stories of the early settlers.
11.15am Return to Blenheim along the edge of the Wairau Lagoon.
12.00pm Drop off at Blenheim and farewell.
