Southern Flora Tour (South Canterbury and North Otago) 2018
This four day tour departs and returns to Christchurch. Your guides are Pro Guide Will Parsons and alpine flora guide Rebecca Bowater who will help with plant identification and give tips on macro photography.
Any walking will be easy as our 4x4 van will take us to high altitude to see the flora and stunning views.
Accommodation and meals are all inclusive on this tour.
Tuesday 18th December 2018
Pick up in Christchurch.
Visit Mt Hutt ski field to look for alpine flora under the passionate guidance of Rebecca Bowater and enjoy stunning views over the Canterbury Plains in summer.
Overnight in Methven at the Redwood Lodge which we have booked exclusively for our group.
Wednesday 19th of December
Breakfast and set off for Mt Dobson, a picturesque location overlooking Lake Tekapo.
On to our comfortable lodgings at Twizel at the Lakes Motel.
Delicious dinner and packed lunch provided.
Thursday 20th December
Breakfast and set off for Ohau a beautiful glacial lake in the MacKenzie Basin. Return to Twizel.
Friday 21st December
Return to Christchurch via the scenic inland route. Have a guided tour of a country garden and afternoon tea with the owner.

Fitness required:
Minimal, you will be driven to high altitude, there will be some short walks on roads and uneven ground to look for flora.
Guides:
Will Parsons who is a fully certified Pro Guide with experience in back counuty driving as he was once a farmer. Will has a passion for New Zealand's history and ecology.
Rebecca Bowater is a self-confessed alpine flora enthusiast and has won and continues to win many prestigious awards for her alpine flora photography, as well has having many of her photos included in books such as ‘Above the Tree Line’. From her beautiful photos she has printed a number of books with a focus on fauna and flora.
